We run a 2 signature courses for small groups of students interested in learning more about the UK Application Process. The workshops are typically hosted by leading schools around the world.

Personal Statement Retreat - Get it "Write"

Facilitated by Sarah Norris (MBA, BSc Econ)

The Personal Statement retreat is a 2 day workshop for students applying to UK Universities seeking expert guidance on the Personal Statement.  We believe all students have something important to say about themselves and their reasons for studying a subject. We also believe that every student is unique, not least their vision of the world around us. But when composing a compelling personal statement for admission into university, students need to know, really know, what is being asked of them.

Our role is to give students the highest quality guidance and advice. All candidates bring their unique perspectives and experiences to the table. When grade attainment is taken into account, the personal statement can be the students’ most compelling opportunity to achieve the university offers they deserve.

In this workshop we strive to:

  • Provide support to students to voice their own stories and interests in their chosen subject and future pathway.

  • Share the most up to date information on parameters and guidelines for university selectors. This includes informal advice that is not published. We base our advice on what universities tell us they look for in candidates.

  • Remind students that the statement is essentially an academic piece of writing and will be assessed accordingly.

  • Deliver advice on subject specific enrichment.

  • Using proprietary and published research, we expose candidates to a better understanding of where students get it right and why, and by the same token, where students go wrong and why.

  • Ensure all students commit the time and energy to deliver a statement that reflects their abilities and candidacy. We recommend an average of 8 drafts.

  • Work in a highly collaborative spirit with schools and responsible staff to lighten the burden of university applications.
